Scope of this Policy
This Policy applies to information we collect through the Site. It does not apply to third-party
websites or services we link to or embed, which have their own privacy practices. It works alongside
our Terms of Use.
Information we collect
Information you give us
When you contact us or make a submission — for example, through a project-inquiry or support form,
or by posting a comment or correction — we collect the information you choose to provide, such as
your name, email address, message, and any details you include.
Information collected automatically
When you visit the Site, we and our analytics providers automatically collect certain technical and
usage information, which may include:
- your IP address and an approximate location derived from it (such as city, state, and country);
- your browser type and settings, device type, and operating system (user-agent information);
- the referring website or source that brought you to the Site;
- the pages and items you view, links you click, and actions you take on the Site; and
- the dates and times of your visits.
We use this information in aggregate and for individual analytics events to understand traffic, measure
performance, and improve the Site. We do not attempt to identify individual visitors from this
technical data, and we do not collect sensitive personal information through the Site.
How we use information
We use the information we collect to:
- operate, maintain, secure, and improve the Site;
- respond to your inquiries, messages, comments, and support requests;
- moderate and publish comments and corrections;
- understand how the Site is used and measure the performance of our content and advertising;
- detect, prevent, and address fraud, abuse, security issues, and technical problems; and
- comply with our legal obligations and enforce our Terms of Use.
Cookies & analytics
The Site uses cookies and similar technologies (such as local storage and pixels) to make the Site work,
remember preferences, and gather analytics. In particular, we use Google Analytics and
Google Ads (via the Google tag) to measure traffic and the effectiveness of our
marketing. These tools may set cookies and collect usage data as described above.
You can control cookies through your browser settings and can usually block or delete them, though parts
of the Site may not function as intended without them. You can opt out of Google Analytics using
Google’s opt-out
browser add-on, and you can manage ad personalization in your
Google Ads settings.
Third-party services we use
We rely on trusted third-party providers to operate the Site. These providers process certain data on
our behalf or under their own policies:
- Google Firebase / Cloud Firestore — hosting of Site data, including comments
and content (privacy);
- Google Analytics & Google Ads — analytics and advertising measurement
(privacy);
- Google Fonts — web fonts, which may involve requests to Google servers;
- Spotify, Apple Music, and YouTube — embedded music and video players; and
- our web host and email provider — to serve the Site and deliver messages you
send us.
Each provider handles data under its own privacy policy. We encourage you to review those policies.
Embedded media (Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube)
Some pages embed players and media from third parties. When you load or interact with an embed, that
provider may receive information such as your IP address and set its own cookies, and may combine it
with data it already holds about you. These interactions are governed by the provider’s privacy
policy, not this one.
Legal bases for processing
Where the EU/UK General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) applies, we process personal data on the
following legal bases: your consent (for example, non-essential cookies and analytics);
our legitimate interests in operating, securing, and improving the Site and
understanding our audience; the performance of a contract or steps taken at your
request (for example, responding to an inquiry); and compliance with legal obligations.
You may withdraw consent at any time by adjusting your browser or cookie settings or contacting us.
How we share information
We do not sell or rent your personal information. We share information only:
- with the service providers listed above, who process it on our behalf to run the Site;
- when required by law, or to respond to lawful requests, subpoenas, or legal process;
- to protect the rights, property, or safety of w3developing, our users, or the public, and to
enforce our Terms; and
- in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, in which case we will require the
recipient to honor this Policy.
How long we keep information
We keep information only as long as needed for the purposes described in this Policy — for example,
to respond to your inquiry, to publish and maintain a comment, or to keep analytics records — and
then delete or anonymize it, unless a longer retention period is required or permitted by law. Analytics
data is retained according to our providers’ default retention settings.
How we protect information
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational measures to protect information against
loss, misuse, and unauthorized access, including transport encryption (HTTPS) and access controls.
However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute
security.
Your privacy rights & choices
Depending on where you live, you may have rights over your personal information, including the right to
access, correct, delete, or receive a copy of it; to object to or restrict certain processing; to
withdraw consent; and, for California residents under the CCPA/CPRA, the right to know, delete, correct,
and opt out of the “sale” or “sharing” of personal information (we do not sell or
share personal information as those terms are commonly understood). We will not discriminate against you
for exercising these rights.

applicable law and may need to verify your identity first.
Do Not Track
Some browsers offer a “Do Not Track” (DNT) signal. Because there is no common industry
standard for responding to DNT, the Site does not currently respond to DNT signals. You can still manage
tracking through the cookie and opt-out options described above.
Children’s privacy
The Site is intended for a general audience and is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age
in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a
child has provided us personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.
International visitors
We operate from the United States, and our service providers may process data in the United States and
other countries. If you access the Site from outside the United States, you understand that your
information may be transferred to, stored, and processed in countries whose data-protection laws may
differ from those in your country.
Changes to this Policy
We may update this Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated”
date above and, for material changes, may provide additional notice on the Site. Your continued use of
the Site after changes take effect constitutes your acceptance of the updated Policy.
