As many know, intermittent fasting (IF) is a popular dietary approach involving alternating eating and fasting periods. It's been linked to various health benefits, including improved weight management, increased insulin sensitivity, and even reduced risk of chronic diseases.

For those unfamiliar, the Keto Mojo meter is a reliable and accurate tool for measuring blood glucose and ketone levels. This lets us get a real-time snapshot of our metabolic state and see how our bodies respond to dietary interventions like intermittent fasting.

What is GKI?

*GKI - GKI stands for "Glucose Ketone Index." It is a measurement used to determine the amount of ketones and glucose in your body. Ketones are molecules produced when your body burns fat for fuel instead of carbohydrates. The GKI helps assess the ratio between your blood glucose levels and ketone levels, providing an indication of your body's metabolic state. KETO-MOJO has several status names for the varying levels of GKI. GKI levels are defined as follows:

9.0 or greater - Not in ketosis.

This level indicates that you’re not following a keto diet or only recently started.

6.0–9.0 - Mild ketosis

Weight loss and optimal health

3.0–6.0 - Moderate ketosis

Metabolic conditions like type 2 diabetes, insulin resistance, and obesity

1.0–3.0 - Therapeutic ketosis

Dietary management/treatment of cancer, neurological diseases, and chronic inflammatory diseases

1.0 or less - Highest degree of therapeutic ketosis

N/A — This level is generally only attainable under strict, medically supervised ketogenic diets
